So, this is me :
Je pars donc, dans un mois, découvrir la Russie -et un peu de la Mongolie et de la Chine...
I'm leaving next month, to discover Russia -and a bit of Mongolia & China...
Après la fin de mes études (youpi:), j'ai décidé (avant de devenir sérieuse ? et de travailler) de partir 1 mois à l'aventure, dans ce pays qui m'a toujours fascinée... la Russie !
After the end of my studies (yeepee:), I decided (before becoming serious? and beginning to work), to go for an adventure, during 1 month, in this country that i always found fascinating... Russia !
Le plan: arrivée à Saint-Pétersbourg le 4 Février, visite de la ville puis départ pour Moscou. Après avoir visité Moscou, je monterai dans le transsibérien, destination Pékin, via Oulan-Bator, en Mongolie... puis vol retour Pékin/Paris, le 7 Mars.
The plan is: arrival in St Petersburg on the 4th of February, visit of the city & then departure for Moscow. After visiting Moscow, i'll take the transsiberian, final destination Beijing, via Ulan-Bator, Mongolia... then, flight back home: Beijing/Paris, on the 7th of March.
Je prévoyais à l'origine de partir seule, mais les plans ont évolué. Malgré la suspicion de certains vis-à-vis d'un tel voyage, d'autres se sont laissés tenter et m'accompagneront probablement pour une partie du trajet...
I originally wanted to leave alone, but plans change... although some people were suspicious aboutthis trip, some others were tempted and will probably join me for the adventure.

Voici mes précieux visas -avec mon nom écrit en cyrillique !!
...now the departure is close -in less than 2weeks i'll be walking in the streets of St Petersburg :))
Here are my loved visas (they wrote my name in cyrillic, great!)
Et mes nouvelles chaussures en peau de caribou :) pour que mes petits petons restent bien au chaud même par -40° :)
and my new shoes, precious allies to brave the cold in Siberia (see the sticker?my little toes will stay alive even at -40°)

- URGA, 1991, Nikita Mikhalkov (Никита Сeргеевич Михалков) -The shepherd Gombo lives with his wife, three children and grandmother in a tent on the Mongolian steppe. They are pleased with their rustic conditions, until a Russian truck driver, Serguei, gets stuck with his truck nearby. The cultural gap between Gombo and Serguie seems invincible. But maybe they can learn a few things from each other?

- DERSU UZALA (Дерсу Узала), 1975, Akira Kurosawa -This film is based on the 1923 memoir by Russian explorer Vladimir Arsenyev, about his exploration of the Sikhote-Alin region of Siberia in 1902-10. The film depicts Arsenyev leading a series of mapping expeditions in the region, where he and his team soon encounter an old Nanai hunter, Dersu Uzala (1849-1908). - SOLEIL TROMPEUR (Утомлённые солнцем, Burnt by the sun), 1996, Nikita Mikhalkov (Никита Сeргеевич Михалков) -Russia, 1936: revolutionary hero Colonel Kotov is spending an idyllic summer in his dacha with his young wife and six-year-old daughter Nadia and other assorted family and friends. Things change dramatically with the unheralded arrival of Cousin Dmitri from Moscow, who charms the women and little Nadia with his games and pianistic bravura. But Kotov isn't fooled: this is the time of Stalin's repression, with telephone calls in the middle of the night spelling doom - and he knows that Dmitri isn't paying a social call...
- LE PRISONNIER DU CAUCASE (кавказский пленник, Prisoner of the Caucasus), 2002, Sergei Bodrov (сергей бодров) -Based on 'A Prisoner of the Caucasus' by the noted Russian writer Leo Tolstoy. This film illustrates the conflicting views between traditional Chechen culture and Russian warfare through the skillful use of soundtrack, costuming, and arms. While the political powerhouse of the Russian army prevails in the final sequence, the personal fight between two Russian soldiers and their Chechen captors is the main theme.

Oulan-Bator, Mongolie !!
salut a tous !!
tout d'abord, merci encore a tous pour vos comments, ca fait toujours super plaisir de vous lire :))
ensuite, ce soir speciale dedicace a Anne, JOYEUX ANNIV ma poulette, trinque a ma sante ce soir !!
et puis enfin, juste pour faire un coucou depuis Oulan-Bator, capitale de la Mongolie, ou on vient de debarquer...
on vient de passer nos derniers jours en Russie a Oulan-Oude -ou se trouve la statue geante de la tete de Lenine, tres impressionnant...de la-bas, on est partis faire une petite viree sur le bord du lac Baikal...un peu frais, mais le lac gele avec le relief des vagues figees a la surface, vraiment surperbe !!
et puis, apres 12 heures de car et un passage de frontiere, nous voici en Mongolie ce soir ! on a trouve un hostel ou rester, les gens sont supers sympas et l'hostel propose des excursions de quelques jours dans la cambrousse mongole, ca promet !
voila pour ce soir, j'essaierai de remettre un mot avant de partir pour Pekin !

hey guys, just a few words in english (i'm so sorry but too lazy to write everything in french+english each time)... After our last days in Russia, in Ulan-Ude and the Baikal lake -frozen, it was magnificient- we arrived in Mongolia this evening, after 12hours of bus; we found a hostel and people seem to be really nice here...we'll probably stay for 6days and try to go for a 2/3 days trip in the countryside, before taking the train again for our last destination, Beijing ...
so as you see, the adventure is going on, still great, and today is a big day, with this arrival in a new country !!

Coucou sophie! un grand merci pour tes posts que je lis très régulièrement en essayant de t'imaginer entre samovar géant, températures exotiques et horizons désertiques... Tu ne peux pas imaginer comme j'aimerai être des vôtres! A très bientôt en France!
coucou Sof, et donc vous avez passé la frontière en car? ? j ai donc raté un épisode ou... pas tout compris ;-) Hâte que tu nous racontes! Ici on dirait bien que le dégel commence, avec le demi mètre de neige qu on a par endroits ça va être une sacrée gadoue!! bizzzzzz, tiens toi un peu au chaud :-)
coucou maman, oui en fait depuis oulan-oude en russie yavait pas de train aux dates qui nous arrangeaeint donc on a pris le bus, et on a donc passe la frontiere par la route et non par les rails...apparemment c'etait moins long comme ca donc tant mieux, et on a traverse la mongolie c'etait trop beau !! bon je file, la suite de nos aventures dans quelques jours ! :))
